Monthly News October 2008

Viking Center Kick-Off Event

Stanton Friends had an excellent kick off event on October 1, 2008 at the Stanton Community High School with an estimated attendance of 500 people!  The evening started with a meal that consisted of BBQ beef, chips, and cookies. The program highlighted the proposed plans for the new Viking Center which would include a new daycare, preschool, library and wellness center.  Mickey Anderson introduced several partners that will aid in the development of the new center.  Those included: Pat Hall from Snyder and Associates, Dee Fischer and Deb Reed with the USDA, Lana Pals our grant writer, and Sue Cosner and Rand Fisher with the Iowa Area Development Group.  Bret Hultman presented an overview of the building plans.  After the presentation Chuck Truka and Mickey Anderson drew for door prizes; Tim Kammerer won two Southwest airline tickets, Bailey Foote won Nebraska Football tickets, and Dave Hart and Matt Peterson won tickets to the Mid America Center.  Stanton Friends ended the evening with a great performance from Champions Forever.  Bruce Crevier is a "Four Time Guinness World Record Holder" for basketball spinning; Bruce and Diane Crevier are the parents of 10 children with the 11th on the way.  They used basketballs, unicycles, music and fun to entertain the crowd!!
